Public Service Pay Restorations
As members are very well aware, we as retired Civil Servants have no negotiating rights in relation to our pension entitlements. This contrasts with the position which serving members have in place.
This is why we are not able to engage in the process in the same way as unions representing serving members.
While we do not have negotiating rights, the present Minister, Mr Howlin, did recognise that we had at least a right to consultation, through the Alliance of Retired Civil Servants, of which we are a founder member.
The Alliance has been invited in for consultation in relation to the present position on the unwinding of the cuts to pay and pensions under FEMPI.
At present, there is nothing tangible to report but we hope to have further information in the next few days. As soon as anything becomes known, the Association will ensure, through the Alliance that the information is got out to members either via the websites of the constituent organisations or through Press Releases.
