Wexford Meeting of RCPSA

The Association want to hear from members about their concerns arising from pension and health and welfare cuts and cut backs in recent years and how effectively, or not, the forthcoming budget and other recent developments are responding to our difficulties. Sean O'Riordain, Wexford resident and RCPSA delegate to the Alliance of Retired Public Servants will also attend.

If you are not in a position to come please keep in touch through our website. We will report further on these matters in our Annual December Bulletin issued through the post.

We also hope to generate interest in setting up a local branch to better support the interests of County Wexford members.

Update on Pension Restoration - New Information from Government

This is as follows:
The changes provide for a restoration of pension income subjected to the Public Service Pension Reduction on a phased basis over three years as follows,

  • 1 January 2016 – return of €400 to most PSPR-impacted pensioners
  • 1 January 2017 – return of €500 to most PSPR-impacted pensioners
  • 1 January 2018 – return of €780 to most PSPR-impacted pensioners

and/or removing pensioners from the PSPR “net” entirely

The net effect is that pensioners up to  annual pension of €30,000.00 per annum will no longer suffer a cut in pension after 1st January 2018 - See table below

Pension Restorations Update

Information regarding Pay Restorations

Following the recently announced proposals formulated by the Labour Relations Commission in relation to the Lansdowne Road Agreement, the Minister indicated the intention to begin the orderly restoration of public service pension reductions made in recent years. We understand that proposals are to go to Government shortly for approval providing for a reduction in the impact of the Public Service Pension Reduction on public service pensions.

A further meeting with representatives of The Alliance is to be held next week.

This date and time is different from the provisional date given in the recent Annual Report

AGM 2015

It was chaired by the outgoing President, Frank Conway, who was commened for his work as Chairman and a presentation was made at the end of Conference. 

 The Association thanks Frank for all his dedicated work for members over the years. Frank will continue to serve on Council.

Conference also expressed sympathy to the family of our late colleague, Michael Corcoron, former Treasurer

and council member. He served the association in that capacity for many years with great skill and dedication.

We remember him with great affection and are saddened by his passing.

Alliance of Retired Public Servants to meet to discuss pensions

Meeting will be held in Co. Wexford on the 26th January, 2015 - All Welcome

Retired colleagues are invited to a meting of the Alliance of Retired Public Servants at the Park Hotel, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. It will take place at 7pm on Monday the 26th of January, 2015

The purpose of the meeting is to discuss issues of interest to all retired public servants.

The Alliance includes the major organisation representing retired public servants.
The Retired Civil and Public Servants Association is a founder member of the Alliance and Sean O Rioirdain from Council will be at the meeting.

Hospital Saturday Fund

Many members have reduced Medical Insurance cover following on reductions to pensions and increases in taxes and charges. The Hospital Saturday Fund, which is a registered charity could provide an alternative or a supplement to other Medical Cover.

New Branches

Creation of new branches

The inaugural meeting of the Laois Branch will take place on Tuesday, 28th October, at 11am in the Parish Centre, Portlaoise. Refreshments will be served on arrival
