The 1 September 2025 pension adjustment has been applied by the NSSO, as has the 1 February 2026 pension adjustment and should be reflected in your pension due 26 February 2026 for fortnightly paid pensions.

To check your pension, log on to the NSSO website and access your pension slip online (see below).  Click on 26 February 2026, then click Full Payslip to see detailed information.  Under Details, you should see your Pay Grade and Point.  It is our understanding that the 1 September 2025 increase applies only to certain pay scales and to one particular point on each of those scales – details below – and that, if you did not retire from that point on the scale, the 1 September 2025 increase will not apply.

We understand that there are a small number of retirees on pay scale off-points and that those individual cases will be processed by the NSSO in due course.

If you do not see any increase in your pension (we understand that everyone paid by the NSSO should benefit from the 1 February 2026 increase), or if you consider that the increase(s) have not been applied correctly, please follow up with the NSSO on payrollcontact@nsso.gov.ie.  On this occasion, you can quickly identify that there has been an increase because you will see an amount under Pension Arrears.

It is important to check your pension from time to time, particularly when changes are due.  As a broad, general guide, if you retired with 40 years reckonable service, the amount under Rate Current (your annual gross pension) should be half that of the rate for serving staff at any given time.  If you retired with less than 40 years reckonable service, the proportion should be in line with your length of service.  This is a very rough guide and does not take into account pensionable allowances or other specific situations.
